Mammal's fog-powered sonic dispersal units yield some serious fuzz force on this, the follow-up to 2002's Fog Walkers LP. Electronically processed signal and modulated ring power the mix, while hazed distorto screech propels the re-routed beat device attack. These are the most viciously raw, real Mammal sounds to date.

For his first domestic CD, Lionel Marchetti has created an intricate tape-music exploration of Shamanism and ecstatic states of mind. Spoken text, ritual music from Asia and Africa, and "citations" (to use his term) from well-known works of 20th century experimental music are blended together into a fast-paced collage. While Marchetti is known for his two 3"mini-CDs on the Metamkine label and his excellent split CD with Ralf Wehowsky on Selektion, "Knud" is the first full-length work published under his own name. He is also active in improvised electroacoustic music, performing with Jerome Noetinger and Voice Crack

Roel Meelkop was a founding member of audio art group THU20 in the early eighties who continues to perform and record, and is currently a member of electro-acoustic live project Kapotte Muziek, and the electronic rhythm group GOEM. onkyo ok is composed of recordings made during Roel¹s tour to Japan in summer 2001. Various components of the rich Japanese soundscape (to name a few: pachinko parlours, train crossings, crows, electrical machines, people) have been captured, abstracted (or not), blended and re-composed creating unique sonic snapshots of this beautiful and at times bewildering country.

It was a very good year
|
CD
|
Mem is one Kamil Antosiewicz from Warsaw. Kamil existed in a previous incarnation as one third of the now defunct Polish trio, EA. Mem’s work typically attempts to link sonic anomalies with electronics. On “It Was A Very Good Year”, Mem takes source material from perhaps the most popular version of a standard American classic of the same title from the early 1960’s. Mem uses isolated sections of string sounds from a big band orchestra and draws them out into slowly cascading layers. We hear humming, vibrating, drawn out drones that build very slowly into a massive crescendo of noise that eventually include others sounds from the orchestra. Many of the sounds are manipulated, but nothing outside the original recorded version is added. The piece results in a stunningly beautiful hour with hypnotic qualities that build in giant ebbs and flows. Recommended (Alluvial)

"My influence and inspiration for "The Face of Vehemence" is the book "Sun and Steel" by Yukio Mishma. The CD title "Face of Vehemence" is basically what I see in Yukio Mishimas face; especially on the book cover. Almost all of his photos he has that "face of vehemence". When I finally read his book "Sun and Steel" it was like a "take the words out outa my mouth" experience but articulated absolutely perfectly in a manner I could never do with words. How he perceived "words" in relating to the flesh is how I perceive "sound" in relating to the flesh. Yukio Mishmas attitude towards art/flesh/death/spirit is highly inspiring towards my music." - Daniel Menche (Ground fault)

Substantia Innominata is the brand new release-series from Drone Records. This new series doesn’t focus on a special concept or ideology regarding the music, but on a certain theme. The theme for this 10” series is based on “The Un-known, The Un-nameable, The Un-speakable, The Un-thinkable, etc.: Various aspects related to “The Unknown”. Basically the grey matter (psychic or physical, which are bound to result the same) surrounding us / within us, but can’t be understood or recognized through the normal senses (though some may perceive it on a subconscious level). We could name it “The Unconscious”. DANIEL MENCHE begins the series with two pieces: Compressed energy. Density. Driving force. Tension. Pulsating Blood. The Unknown as part of a bigger energy, that is also part of the music? ltd. 500 (Substantia Innominata)
