DRAWN DEAD is the sound of a burning human body. The sound of a boiling kneecap microwave marshmallow popping and then sliding down the leg like jellied pulp. This record is so dark, you can smell the burning flesh and will have to shake the human ash from your clothes after each listen. (Hanson)

Croatoan
CD
Singular examinations of places and things in the Jeph Jerman style; dissonant, fourtrack humming and wind-shadows, sticks and footsteps across desert gravel, but cleaned up so every clank and rustle of weeds and sticks comes through. And it changes suddenly and completely many times. Lots of different places here. You can almost smell the dust of some remote audio-archeological dig-site, Jerman as the conductor and explorer, piles of rocks and dead cacti all about. It is so hard to convey to the uninitiated what Jerman does, and how refreshing it is to hear something that has no regard for entertainment, but rather sets up a situation where each sound is appreciated on its own. How perfect it is to move into these spaces Jerman provides, these simple, strange, common and yet shamanist soundworlds. Croatan is ambient, but in the strictest sense, its all location/outdoor sound recording. With some human interaction.

Untitled title shots
CD
Three realtime recordings of GX Jupitter-Larsen's Untitled Title Belt feeding back on itself. No multi-tracking or post-production was applied. Conceived by Jupitter-Larsen, with electronics by Damion Romero (Speculum Fight), and leather-work by Paul Stoll (BodyM), this noise belt is unlike the traditional championship wrestling belt it was fashioned after. This implement functions as a combination microphone, distortion-pedal, & noise generator.

Death defying sickness
CD
Finally, after many delays, a CD of the full complete vision of DEATH-DEFYING SICKNESS by The Haters. Most who've heard this uncompromising blast consider it not only the harshest ever by The Haters, but also the best!!! Hear the oxidizing voices that inspired the tale of DOCTOR X: "... the image of 'the naughty nurse' never entered his mind. A biosafety level-4 laboratory was his only home. His whole wardrobe consisted mainly of hot claustrophobic and sweaty environmental suits that completely encapsulated his body. Doctor X, a prominent microbiologist, had been working for years on a cure for a disease called A.T. 80. A severe virus, A.T. 80 causes the victim's skeleton to become corrosive, eating away at the surrounding anatomy. Connective tissue was always the first to be effected. The result was complete with a sweeping numbness, high fever, and uncontrollable hemorrhaging..."

One theory in audio-dynamics regards noise as a simultaneous movement in all directions. The theory being that each individual direction is a cross section of a larger accumulative effect. This theory goes on to state that everything except for nothingness moves as part of the polywave. The way one measures the polywave is by comparing unconnected entities. That is by comparing the polywave (movement) to nothingness (stillness). If clocks indicate not a movement of time, but the metabolism of the person perceiving the clock in motion, then time would be a stationary void located in between the passing of events. And anti-time then as the velocity of metabolism.

The Polish duo HATI is a very active live group, using an array of archaic and ethnic instruments such as gongs, cymbals, north-African drums and clarinets, wooden trumpets, horns and flutes. What’s more, their music also includes found objects of scrap metal, plastic or wood. Their first release on vinyl presents two pieces of multi-layered gong drones, nicely processed for full trance effect and enriched with whistling and rattling sounds and delayed percussion. Above all these sounds, there’s a mighty overtune buzz with heavenly droning contemplation wafts. (Drone records)

Helice Pied is a newcomer from Athens, Greece who used to record under the name. Nixilx.Nijilx but for this very first vinyl release a new project name was chosen. Conduit no. 2 is a perfect example of sensibly spun experimental drone. Floating waves with metallic tinkling sounds slowly approaching and disappearing again. Soft white noise swooshes circulating widely around an invisible center. Sound sources are hardly recognizable, coming from concrete sounds of churchbells and E-guitar. The atmosphere rising is one of quietness & meditation, able to transcend your mind. (Drone Records)

The interaction between computer science technology and freeform musical creative process becomes a central point in this international collaboration of three artists from Belarus and USA. The abstract soundscapes are obscured by intricate structures, acoustic phenomena and electronic effects, it's going to infinity and never repeat itself. The finest harmony of soundfield is credited to the principles of intuitive simulation, realised through the system of computer-aided instruments. (Monochrome Vision)

CD
Split CD from Hijokaidan, the king of noise, and BusRatch, a highly talented experimental turntable unit. Hijyokaidan's (as spelled on this release) fundamental concept is large volume and improvisation. As the group works up intensity, the sound expends, screaming vocals with electronics and electric guitar. Busratch started in 1998. Broken records, mouse pads, metal pieces, cymbals and table scraps clash with the needle to a dizzying effect.

"Writhing Flesh" was originally issued as a cassette on Chondritic Sound in a small hand-numbered edition of 35 copies. It documents two very early Hive Mind live shows. For the uninitiated, HOTD's sound has been likened to being caught under an avalanche of grit. The wall of earth rumbles in from the distance, getting closer, a huge rush of wind before you are overtaken by half a mountainside of rock, dirt, stick. The sound surrounds and pounds. Finally, when left trapped under eight feet of crud, the chaos of the slide gives way to the sound of only lungs fighting for breath, mind drifting towards the light. No one's coming to help.
