French sound artist Yannick Dauby crafts delicate and intricate soundscapes from heavily processed natural sounds, creating oddly unsettling pastiches that teeter uneasily between field recordings and electronic sound. richly textural compositions made up of recordings taken at the rivers’ banks, the manipulation of found objects, and some electronic elements. As one might expect, the record reflects a snapshot of a place-running water, stones, soil, metallic timbres, wind, rain, and even bats- all electronically altered so the sounds become something recognizable, but different. Dead Machines / Damon Romero / John Wiese Friday the 13th
|
2xLP
|
Fierce live recording of this epic event on Jan 13, 2006. One side per set, including final side of 4-way collaboration. Somehow they managed to fuse the minimal low-fi rig of Dead Machines with the maximal power cycle of Damion Romero and spacious neutron radiation of John Wiese, I was wondering how they were gonna pull it off.... it is a crunch-roaring bewilderment in sound. John Wiese - sonic landscapes that swirl and build, psychedelic even. Dead Machines - slow grind through homemade speaker-suitcase. A groovy ride on nails and steel wool. Damion Romero - physical psychic, you could feel it in the concrete floor. 4-way collab - thunder-wail with flowers and sharks. Sonic hallucinations all. (Anarchymoon)

CD

In what could be the very last release from Deathpile, he's created here a 9 track masterpiece of brutal power electronics. Focusing on the Green River Murders in Seattle from the early 1980<92>s. (and released before Gary Ridgeway's confession), the Lyrics are written from the chronological perspective of the killer, exploring key events, physical situations and aberrant psychological terrain, with terse delivery. Nine tracks of dense and rushing power electronics and sado-ambient atmospheres. Fierce, verging on hysterical vocals and well placed and researched audio samples stand above thick and violent synth beds.

|
CD
|
It's all in stop motion. It's all real. Up, out from under all places molded and GUNKED. Slithering spool tapes sliding like thin brown snakes under, amongst, and finally overtop and around. They overtake the crumbling corpsed-up organ grinder. He, with his grin full of rot and fingers of stank, is ever so pleased to allow the decayed magnetics to engulf his skeletal frame, it is how his power is attained (maintained). Only when wrapped tightly and over his entire torso and head (a tape mummy!) will he begin to play. Quietly at first, as if from a distance - but he is there, RIGHT THERE GODDAMIT - and then the groan and the moaning howl and the static insects all begin to draw near, an orchestra of loneliness.

The most radical, intelligent and influential German avantgarde band of the last two decades, During the years 1980-87, German trio Die Todliche Doris (Deadly Doris) was a vital presence in the Berlin underground music and art scene. Early records revealed Doris as a willfully obscure component of the neue deutsche welle, and their live shows melded their particular brand of raw post-punk cacophony with high-minded performance art sensibility. This 6 record box set contains heavyweight vinyl editions of material from their first 6 legendary and highly collectable tapes (1980-84). `Sometime in 2004 I was asked to contribute a track to the The New Blockaders Viva Negativa! tribute. While working on this I ended up recording a 20 minute track using 20 8-track loops of 20 years of material from The New Blockaders. The day after this was recorded, I was to play a gig in Detroit w/ Emil Beaulieau. I decided to keep the TNB loops and use them for the show. I gave the recordings to Rupenus, who suggested the release of this LP. Side 1 = Studio track, Side 2 = Live track.' AARON DILLOWAY

Imperial Distortion
|
2xCD
|
Beauty as an aesthetic can be as terrifying as horror, desire unfulfilled, romance that lingers and never goes away no matter how disappointing. Drone music at its most concentrated and ably
performed has build and depth in its tones. Although there might be
the illusion of stasis the opposite is true. The Tracks on Imperial
Distortion have an almost ballad-esque sense of elegance using tone
and frequency as melodic portals to nowhere. The sustain in the piece
suggests a weight while remaining alarmingly pleasant to the ears.
The tension suggests an anxiety that never truly dies. The alarm
comes from the juxtaposition of tones and mood. While the tones may
sound gorgeous in their purity the mood implies a profound sense of
unease and perhaps an acceptance of the inevitability of existential
dilemma. (Hospital Productions)

Combime XXI/Combine XXII is the second vinyl album documenting the ongoing collaboration between tape loop composer/destroyer Jason Lescalleet and Ron Lessard, aka noise legend Emil Beaulieau and head of the pioneering RRRecords label. Using severely manipulated recordings of the duo’s ear-splitting live concerts, Lescalleet creates a dense sound world, abstract and visceral. Consisting of two sidelong pieces, by turns both brutal and beautiful, this latest record is a testament to Lescalleet’s ability to recast rough sounds in his blurry, tape-distorted image. Flexible Response

CD
|
First full-length CD by this French project of cold dark atmospheric music. Throughout the ten pieces of "Flexible response", DUSK OF HOPE takes you to an uncertain labyrinthine trip on the tracks of a fallen civilization. You feel like going on a pure journey into now closed down buildings in which your sense of direction is being tried before slowly vanishing and in which the only echo of an unknown architecture sweeping out the past with a dull and diffused signal is sounding. This is a totally dehumanized sound work in which the fear of solitude is experienced as obsessive. Soundscapes are extremely cold. We find ourselves amidst the foundations of unknown and uncertain cities in an unidentified geography.
