Fragment 36
7"
Behind this project with the strange name ("eel-catch with horse-head" would be the English translation) is Mirko Uhlig from Germany, who also runs his own label EX OVO. "Fragment 36" relates to a quote from 'Heraclites' showing that 'everything deliquesces' at any moment and can never be the same as the moment before. According to that, AALFANG MIT PFERDEKOPF's first and last ever 7" creates two drone-minimal pieces with very high dynamics, using water-sounds and 'Glockenspiel' (use of bells), drenched into this overtune-feedback-resonances & dark reverberating drones. Sketches from that Autumn
CD
The first official release of Ural project AD LUX TENEBRAE (TOWARDS THE LIGHT OF DARKNESS) consists of recordings made during "That Autumn". The main style of ALT's playing is shamanic, ritual Drone\Dark Ambient, performed (mostly) & fixed with improvised means in a hut in the midst of Ural forest. ALT uses hand-made instruments - a violin with springs instead of strings, which is played with a bow of steel - field recordings, fixed in the forests, swamps and villages of Ural. Harp, acoustic & bass guitars, vocals & voices, as well as old recordings with folk-songs of Bashkir nation were used. Very potent & original album with strong taste of muskarine, fragrance of autumn forest and fierceful mesmerism.

Featuring Eric La Casa (processing, contact microphone recording), Eric Cordier (long string recording devices, mixing), and Jean Luc Guionnet (condenser & contact microphone recordings, filtering, processing, mixing). Afflux employs an on-site electroacoustic device in order to work out a set of live interactions with the site. The device connects the three improvisers to the place at the same time. This set of connections creates an infinite interplay of interactions and possibilities. The device is basically founded upon a principle of circulation. The recordings of the environment and devices interacting with the elements: wind, water, etc. are filtered and mixed live by one protagonist. The mix is then broadcast to the other two protagonists (through headphones) who can interact with inflections, altering the course of what is recorded. In this instance the three sites in the Normandy area (each involving a great deal with the water of the sea)find the trio encountering some intermittent heavy weather. Passing rain showers, rising tides, flowing drains, and even communications from a maritime navigation post play heavily into the soundscape, which is a shimmering electroacoustic atmosphere of vibrating strings, rushing water, and crisp, windswept ambience

the final release in a trilogy covering the sonic expeditions of the French location-specific electroacoustic trio Afflux (Eric La Casa, Jean-Luc Guionnet & Eric Cordier). This release summarizes what was initially a 6 hour performance / installation / radio broadcast that occurred at the TNT cultural centre in Bordeaux, France. The TNT centre is situated inside a former shoe manufacturing building. With several hundred meters of cables, the exterior and interior of the building were recorded using several different condenser and contact microphones, modified and mixed in real time on a 32 channel mixing desk. Simultaneously, the live mix was played into the concert hall / space using 8 channels for 8 loudspeakers. While the improvisers were on the upper level, the audience was listening and walking around on the lower level. The final mix for the CD was edited by Eric La Casa.

apocalyptic orchestral dark industrial from the Czech republic. The central motif of this album is the refusal of broadly accepted materialistic view of the world and its future, demonstration of awareness of historical lapse of the human in relation to that what transcends him, well thought out attack against the "soul swallowers" supporting pathological mechanisms of hidden, nevertheless sophisticatedly planned process leading to the suppression of spirituality. The album is revocation and update of time-honored, in prism of today mistakenly as if mythical and therefore for many not existing combat of the good and the evil in the individual. (Epidemie)

Another work from Jeph Jerman (Hands To), animist quartets allows the natural objects used in the creative process to stand on their own. No electronic modifications are used with these recordings. the latest sonic collision between San Francisco sound activists, Scott Arford (Radiosonde) and Randy H.Y. Yau , is a sinister collection of creeping nightmares. The resultant miasma is an obscenely beautiful extended moment, always hinting that something horrible is waiting just beyond the threshold of consciousness.

Self-described ‘sound paintings' based loosely around the idea of evaporation in all its many forms. The collaged sonic-ephemera contained herein engages the heart as well as the cerebral cortex, and operates on a much more deeply satisfying level than the ‘moment-to-moment' feel of so much new electronic music. Crystalline field recordings betray opaque walls of digitally processed shimmer & glow, causing gentle wrinkles and warps in your perception of these deliciously peripheral sounds. Captivating everything/nothingness.

These curdling swathes of vaporous murk are out to win you over once and for all, slowly anaesthetizing your wits into a long, heavy slumber and undoubtedly leaving you with a bewildering headache upon your return to consciousness (accompanied a nagging feeling that you may have left the oven on). The Envy of Winged things
CD
The pieces on The Envy of Winged Things—dark, uneasy and unsettling—were inspired by the short films of the Brothers Quay. The titles, like the works which inspired them, lend an impression of surrealism shared by the diverse sound sources and manipulations found in the recordings. Augur begins each piece with a generous silence, the sounds soon creeping up on you to reveal their light and shadow. A muffled voice in the distance, the chirping of insects, a thin tone, objects in motion, the echoes of sounds long forgotten, chimes, deep drones... Augur's atmospheres are filled with darkness and weight, where only occasionally one spies a thin ray of sunshine; yet even this is soon to be enveloped in cloud, covered in rain. Yet this is not to dismiss these pieces as gloomy; rather, they are consistently both challenging and experimental, compelling the listener to imagine a hypothetical narrative or visual scene to complement the sounds.
